Covid 19 Support

Dr. Spillane has a special interest in working with health care providers, especially physician, in coping with the unique psychological challenges generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. She is experienced in working with frontline providers who are facing:

  • trauma and ptsd
  • exhaustion
  • anxiety
  • disconnection from family members
  • the search for meaning in the face of overwhelming loss
  • overwhelming grief
  • self-care and mindfulness support for resilience

Dr. Spillane’s doctoral dissertation is entitled. “Physicians’ Experiences of Shame in the Course of Their Training,” and she has a long-standing interest in the emotional and psychological experience of physicians throughout their training. She has served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and taught in the Patient-Doctor sequence, and was Assistant in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Spillane did her internship in the Department of Pediatric Psycho-oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her office is conveniently located near the Longwood Medical Area in Jamaica Plain.  Dr. Spillane is offering telehealth services at this time.
